Your hostess, Linda Roycroft, is an Irishwoman living in France. It was always her dream to relocate to France, and to start up a business in the hospitality sector. In 2018 this became a reality, and having found the perfect base here in Hercé, she set about opening Chambres d'Hôtes 'Les Quatre Siècles'. Together with her pianist / photographer husband Peter, they are now welcoming guests from all over the globe into their carefully prepared home. There are 4 beautifully appointed guest rooms. Chambre de la Piscine, is adjacent to the pool and Chambre d'Été, is in the midst of the house's magical gardens. The luxury, Bulstrode's Boudoir opened in Spring 2020, as did the Cyrano de Bergerac suite - a family suite that can accommodate 5 people in 2 rooms! Linda is also a musician, being an accomplished flautist, but it will be her culinary skills with which she will be impressing overnight visitors as they sample her wonderful 'petit déjeuner' being served to them each morning. 'Les Quatre Siècles' is a charming rambling Mayenne longère (lit. 'long house') which celebrated its 400th birthday on its year of opening; hence the house's name, 'The Four Centuries'. It was built in 1619 - the same year that poet and free thinker, Cyrano de Bergerac was born; three years after W. Shakespeare died, and 23 years before Isaac Newton was even born! This house is a quiet refuge in the hamlet of Hercé, only 2 km. from the thriving town of Gorron in the Département of Mayenne. If a little peace and quiet is what you're after, and you like the sound of being spoiled with old world hospitality combined with modern conveniences, then 'Les Quatre Siècles' may well be just the accommodation you're looking for, be it for a handy overnight stay on your journey, or a dedicated sojourn of a several days... The house boasts its own private swimming pool. Guests are welcome to relax and wander in the beautiful grounds, and to make acquaintance with the various exotic fish in the pond towards the bottom of the garden. We also have plenty of parking, including two secure garages. Our mission is to make you to feel absolutely at home!

Situated close to the beautiful 'Parc de Loisirs de la Colmont', 'Les Jardins des Renaudies', and barely 2½ hours south of either of the important ports of Cherbourg or Le Havre, 'Les Quatre Siècles' is ideally placed for an adventurous exploration of many attractive areas which are virtually on its doorstep. To the west is the beautiful historic town of Fougères, on your way to Rennes, or to the coastal resort of Saint-Malo, not far from the stunning Mont Saint-Michel. To the east lies the enchanting Parc Naturel Régional Normandie-Maine, and one already finds oneself in cider and Calvados country. We are in Pays de la Loire, but if you're travelling south, the Loire proper awaits you with its countless splendid châteaux. If you're staying in the area for a few days, and have really had quite enough driving, then the nearby département principal town of Mayenne has much to offer, and Lassay-les-Châteaux is but 34 km. away. The area also abounds with 'small towns of character', and we'd be delighted to furnish visitors with leaflets summarising the many places of interest and best kept secrets which await the eager and inquisitive traveller.
