Ax is a beautiful town nestled amongst the dramatic back drop of the Pyrenees. There are activities all year round including skiing in the winter and downhill mountain-biking in the summer. Hiking and rafting/kayaking are also popular. The natural thermal waters of Ax are world renowned for their healing properties as well as simply just for relaxation. The town is full of wonderful restaurants and independent shops. There is also a casino, cinema and theatre. A funfair provides entertainment for all the family. The tourist office advertises a daily programme of events so there is always something to keep you occupied. In the summer season the large lido pool and tennis courts in Ax are open. The park also has pétanque pitches and a skateboard park. The gondola to Bonascre runs throughout the ski season plus July and August. Up there you will find restaurants and in summer another outdoor swimming pool, table tennis and courts. Free parking all around Ax les Thermès. Train station within walking distance. A free little ski train runs from the large Intermarché at Savignac les Ormeaux stopping at various locations in Ax enroute to the Télécabine all ski season.
