La Sellerie @ No.17 is a charming converted stable offering the tranquillity of a semi-rural location yet just a few minutes walk to the amenities of historical Le Dorat. Set in 3 acres of grounds this self-contained property benefits from well-appointed accommodation with beautiful views from all windows towards the garden, private outside dining area and communal 10x5m in-ground pool (May-Sep). The lovely gardens are home to numerous fruit and nut trees, and shared by the owners resident donkeys, chickens and 5 rescue cats. Built in the 1840s the property was the main coach house serving the Chateau in Le Dorat. The two gîtes were formerly stables and they retain many original features such as water troughs, beams and tethering rings for the horses. Le Dorat is a small medieval town famous for its spectacular 12th century Saint-Pierre Collegiale. Classified as a 'Petite Cité de Caractère', the town is home to numerous shops, restaurants and bars including two boulangeries, a charcuterie and a supermarket. There are weekly outdoor markets including the very popular Producers Market which takes place fortnightly during the summer months. Together with a cinema and its own race course, the town also benefits from a train station with frequent services to Limoges, Poitiers and beyond. The larger town of Bellac is just 15 minutes away, and has a wider selection of shops and supermarkets including Carrefour and Lidl.
