The Retreat @ Le Grand Bois is a fine & very well built, large & spacious house, built as the retirement home of a local industrialist from the footwear industry. The park in which it stands (Le Grand Bois) is at least a 100 years old, but most likely 200 or more years old as the formal setting & size of the trees in the front park would indicate an age of 200+ years & also indicates that it's the site of a much older property; the domaine of the area (Le Grand Bois). It currently provides a very comfortable home for us & our guests, with wonderful gardens, formal parklands, a 1ha wildlife area, where all manner of wildlife, flora & fauna are found. & with todays necessity; a beautiful swimming pool for the sunnier days of Spring, Summer & Autumn. The Retreat @ Le Grand Bois sits in 2.23+ Ha, (over 5.25 acres) of our own little bit of paradise in the small rural department of Lot et Garonne, (along with & within the ancient region of Gascony) often called or known as the the Umbria or Tuscany of France, if & when you visit you'll understand why.

My wife Tina & I have been married for almost 50 years, have two daughters, & three grandsons, Tina spent most of her working life as a senior manager within the largest retail company in the UK, & I spent most of my life in most aspects of mechanical engineering, plus design & installation of commercial kitchens to the fine dining sector, eg; 5* hotels & Michelin restaurants etc, as well as working all over Europe, the USA & Russia in various senior international management roles.

Miramont de Guyenne is a small market town & would be considered a village in UK terms, but it's very French, the weather is generally wonderful. It's an incredibly safe with an almost zero crime rate, I very often leave my car with the windows & doors open at the supermarket, so really a nice place to be. There are some good restaurants & bars in the "Centre Ville" which is about a 10 minutes walk away from Le Grand Bois, we are very lucky to be on the edge of the village & only the first property outside. .
