Gannet’s Nest is a charming Victorian fisherman’s cottage set over three floors, located directly on the estuary in the picturesque village of Appledore. With a furnished terrace and balcony offering stunning, uninterrupted views, it’s the perfect base for exploring the North Devon coast. Guests can book fishing trips, go crabbing on the Quay, wander narrow streets, and visit nearby art galleries and craft shops. Westward Ho!—renowned for surfing, kite surfing, and bodyboarding—is just a 5-minute drive away. Both the South West Coast Path and Tarka Trail are easily accessible. Inside, the ground-floor living area is light and airy, featuring a wood-burning stove, Freeview TV, and double doors to the furnished balcony. Free internet access is available throughout. The kitchen, on the lower ground floor, blends country-cottage charm with modern conveniences, including an electric hob, oven, slimline dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, soft-close cabinets, and dining table. From here, doors open onto the terrace, ideal for alfresco dining with sea views. Bedrooms are spread across two floors. The first-floor master bedroom overlooks the estuary and has a double bed, while the second, nautically themed bedroom has twin beds. A third bedroom, with a snug single bed, is on the ground floor. The family bathroom, with a bathtub and separate shower cubicle, is on the lower ground floor; a WC and hand basin are on the first. The terrace and balcony are both furnished with tables, chairs, and parasols—perfect for sunsets, boat-watching, or outdoor dining. Terrace access involves stepping down from the kitchen and onto the terrace, with two further steps (without a handrail) leading to a raised viewing area. Children must be supervised. Optional extras include dogs for a fee and free use of a high chair, travel cot, and internet. Electricity is metered with a coin system.
