Carol's Cottage is situated in the beautifully scenic Staffordshire Moorlands, right on the edge of the Peak District in the lovely Market Town of Leek. It is in the heart of the town, close to St. Edwards Church, the Market Place, Foxlowe Arts Centre and the recently renovated Butter Market. Leek is a busy little town with markets on Wednesday and Saturday. There are plenty of lovely cosy pubs and cafes. In addition, the Staffordshire Moorlands is a stunningly beautiful area to explore. The cottage has a dining and kitchen area on the ground floor. The kitchen facilities include a twin hob, microwave, toaster and kettle. The first floor provides an area for sitting and relaxing, a small shower room with a WC and a sleeping area with a large, comfortable brass and iron bed. A shared walled yard at the rear of the cottage is suitable for securing bicycles. In the summer there is a table and chairs for the use of guests. Parking - Unfortunately there is no off-road parking at the cottage. There is roadside parking a little further down the road and there are multiple car parks in the immediate area that provide free overnight parking. The cottage is steeped in history, dating back to the 1450s, the time of Henry VI, the War of the Roses, and much unrest throughout England. Throughout the years, the cottage was once a pub, a bakery and with the adjoining cottages, home to the Cooperative Society. The building is timber framed and at one time would have been walls of Wattle and Daub (cow dung, mud and sticks.) In time this was replaced by brick, although there is still an area of the original wall preserved behind glass. By the late 1970s, the cottage had become derelict, and parts of the roof and walls had given way. In the early 1980s, Carol, the cottage namesake, fell in love with it. She bought it and was determined to restore it. Now you can enjoy staying in the oldest house in the town, lovingly restored and recently renovated.

Leek is a bustling market town with many pubs and restaurants to keep you occupied. Pabna and Napoli are great eat-in restaurants In the surrounding area there are many attractions including Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and Chatsworth House. Many scenic peak district walks are a couple of miles away from leek for example; Ludschurch, Manifold valley (leading to Thors Cave) and Dimmingsdale Forest.
