Beautiful Haughton Castle in Northumberland is a Grade I listed building, dating from 1260 and set in spectacular grounds. The Castle Lodge is a stylishly furnished cosy single-storey stone lodge sitting just inside the gateway to the castle, with views across pastureland and a small lake beyond.
Inside Castle Lodge you will find everything you need for a comfortable stay. The wood burning stove in the open-plan living area gives the Lodge a cosy feel whatever the weather. The well-equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher and washing machine as well as electric oven and microwave. There’s a handy drying room and freezer in an outside store. Also on the ground floor are the two bedrooms with quality linens and furnishings. The master with double bed, is generously sized and along with the twin bedroom (can be double on request) share a separate bathroom with over-bath shower.
Castle Lodge is sheltered and discretely tucked behind a high stone wall. It has a sunny garden surrounding the property and an enclosed paved seating area with barbecue on one side. Fishing on the estate is available by prior arrangement.

Haughton Castle is set in scenic parkland along the North Tyne river. It is just a mile from the village of Humshaugh, where you will find The Crown Inn, where you can enjoy a drink and meal from their varied menu. The historic market town of Hexham, with its 12th century abbey, is just under six miles away.
The Castle is on the edge of the rugged and beautiful Northumberland National Park and just a five minute drive from historic Hadrian's Wall, plus England’s largest forest Kielder Forest is a few miles upstream, perfect for dark skies and outdoor activities at the observatory and visitor centres. The whole of Northumberland is a dramatic county, with its ancient forts and castles, unspoilt beaches, hills and moorland - so you’ll never run out of places to explore around here.
