Located in the heart of the Lakes’ walking capital of Ambleside, with its winding streets, lively atmosphere and surrounded by sublime mountain views, once a temperance establishment in the 1800s, these days The Temperance Inn is just the place to settle back with a glass to hand. You couldn’t be better placed to enjoy all Ambleside has to offer. A great starting point whether for Lakeside strolls, challenging climbs to the summit of famous peaks or a steamer trip across England’s famous Windermere lake, making The Temperance Inn the perfect place to stay for a car-free getaway to the Lakes. If you are bringing your car, numerous off-site car parks can be found within a 5-minute walk as we do not have an on-site car park. All rooms feature an ensuite bathroom with shower only, LCD TV, and tea/coffee making facilities, and some have views over Loughrigg Fell. What could be better than filling your boots with tasty, home-cooked food packed with fresh local produce – we can’t think of anything better. From fine breakfast to fuel you up ready for a day scaling the peaks, to brunches and lunches with family or colleagues; linger over delicious evening meals – but be sure you leave room for one of our irresistible homemade desserts. We also have another inn, The Ambleside Inn, located in Ambleside Town Centre, perfect if your chosen dates aren't available or if you're looking for alternative dining options during longer stays. The Temperance Inn, Ambleside - The Inn Collection Group is just 5 miles from Windermere Train Station and the nearest bus stop is only 50 metres away which makes it the perfect base for exploring The Lake District. If you are looking for things to do during your visit, there are several walking trails nearby or alternatively, Zip World Windermere is only a short drive away.
