Easily accessible from the A1, J56 and Scotch Corner approx. 5 mins by car. Darlington Railway Station for the East Coast Mainline and Cross Country routes is 6 miles from the cottage. There is also a regular bus service through the village from Darlington and Richmond.

Barton is a small village in Richmondshire, North Yorkshire. The village is 8 miles from the historic market town of Richmond, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales and home to many independent shops, a weekly market and a host of bars, restaurants and tea rooms. There are also museums, galleries, a cinema and The Georgian Theatre. Barnard Castle and Teesdale are also within half an hours drive of the cottage. Making sections of the Coast to Coast Walk and the Teesdale Way easily accessible from the cottage. The North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire coast lie to the east of the village and the County town of Northallerton is approximately 15 miles. It has a vibrant High Street with twice weekly markets, a renowned delicatessen and independent, high class department store plus a world renowned Betty's Tea Room. The cities of York, Durham and Newcastle are all less than half an hour from Darlington by train. The village has a pub, village shop (next door) and a play park. The Middleton Lodge Estate, hosting weddings and serving top quality food and drinks from breakfast to dinner with an al fresco dining area is within walking distance.
