As far as we can, we buy produce on our doorstep, locally or Yorkshire-wide if we really have to travel. A short walk from Colman's of Aysgarth the River Ure tumbles over a series of broad limestone steps which are known as Aysgarth Falls. Although not particularly high the waterfalls are one of Wensleydale’s most famous beauty spots (having been featured in the Kevin Costner film “Robin Hood – Prince of Thieves”), with a pleasant riverside walk linking the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls. The footpath from Colman's of Aysgarth allows you to explore Wensleydale, Swaledale and Bishopdale. Middleham Castle - Once the childhood home of Richard III, you can relive the Castle’s illustrious history and unlock the deeds of its great owners. Although roofless, extensive remains of the fortified palace still survive, making Middleham a fascinating castle to explore. Why not also visit nearby Richmond Castle and Barnard Castle for more action packed days out in the Dales. Our delicious Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese, lovingly handcrafted in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, is creamy, crumbly and full of flavour. Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese has been awarded European Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status and is the only Wensleydale cheese to be handcrafted right here in Wensleydale.
