A short stroll from the River Dee and the Llangollen Steam Railway, our two self-catering cottages, Swallows and Wagtails, nestle in the beautiful Dee Valley, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottages were converted to the highest standard from ancient barns dating back to at least the 17th century, and retain many original features Each cottage has two bedrooms with super-king or twin beds and comfortable living and dining areas. Relax in front of the open fire or in the lovely garden with its amazing views across the valley. Each cottage has its own patio area, with table and chairs and a barbecue provided in the summer months. There is free parking, free wi-fi, travel cots,stair gates and high chairs are available on request, and dogs are welcome. North Wales provides the perfect setting for a host of outdoor activities. Walking, climbing, fishing, horse riding, mountain biking and many water sports are just some of the activities available within a short distance. Simon and I moved in to Ty Isar Plwyf in early October 2018 and are delighted to be taking over the running of Dee Valley Cottages. Our two lovely cottages, Swallows and Wagtails, were converted from derelict 17th century barns by previous owners, Richard and Jenny. It was a real labour of love for them and not without its challenges! But as planned, they opened in May 2006 and have welcomed numerous guests in the years since then, with many returning year after year. When the time came for Richard and Jenny to move on, they were looking for someone who would love and care for this beautiful place, as they had done for so many years. We fell instantly in love with Ty Isar Plwyf, the two cottages and the stunning location with its breathtaking views over the Dee Valley. We hope we can continue as they did and welcome guests to share this little piece of paradise for many years to come.

The cottages are located is a rural area, a few minutes walk from the Llangollen steam railway and the River Dee. We are in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. With fields all around and very little noise we are ideal for that quite relaxing break, but still within just a few miles of many activities and sites to see. The local town, Llangollen is only 2 miles away, with Chester 35 minutes and Shrewsbury. Snowden national park is about 30 minutes by car.
