We live in Brandon Village and a number of self-catering holiday lets in the village, as well as Durham City Cottages. We have rennovated and restructured the rooms here in 2025, creating 9 delightful luxurious cottages situated around a central courtyard. Each cottage has been finished to a high standard, offering a welcoming and restful place to stay away from home on the edge of Durham City. Durham City Cottages sits in the courtyard beyind the Bay Horse Inn, a family-friendly village pub that offers home cooked food and a friendly atmosphere. A mile down the road in Langley Moor you can find takeawas and independent cafes, try the Daisy Mill for a delicious breakfast, as well as supermarkets including Tesco Express and Lidl. While we don't live directly on site, we are a short walk away, and are available to answer any queries you might have during your stay, whether about your room, the village or surrounding area.

Located in the quiet of Brandon Village we are only a short drive or hop on a bus ride into Durham. We have a selection of cottage accommodation from cozy 1 bed cottages to 2 bed cottages, easy individually and stylishly furnished. All cottages have their own fitting kitchen area, comfortable furniture for relaxed, Smart TVs, free WIFI and individually controllable heating. Courtyard cottages and our premium 2 bedroom cottage each have extra facilities such as a private washine machine, a little more space and access to small, enclosed courtyard garden spaces at the rear of the property. All our cottages offer a welcome and restful place to stay away from home for short stays or longer periods - ideal for contract workers or personnel seconded to the University or business locally. There are numerous walks from Brandon Village in the surrounding countryside and being located on a hill we have good views over Durham City to the famous Cathedral and the surrounding countryside. You can enjoy truly dark skies a few miles away, and the views are superb! For keen walkers and cyclists, the Brandon to Bishop Railway Path and Lanchester to Consett routes follow miles of disused and well maintain railway networks.

Less than 10 minutes’ drive from the historic city of Durham, Durham City Cottages sits in the small village of Brandon just half an hour’s drive from the scenic area of the Pennine dales. All rooms have a HD TV and tea and coffee facilities. The Bay Horse is a traditional Pub with open fires, and guests can enjoy drinks and homemade food. Guests are close to Durham city with its famous cathedral, castle and picturesque walks along the river Wear.
