Perfectly located for visiting Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. Mevagissey is situated on the Southwest Coastal path, so picturesque walks from our doorstep. The Pentewan valley trail follows the old Pentewan railway line and is a lovely gentle walking path and cycle route between Mevagissey, Pentewan and St Austell. The cottage is moments away from the harbour, harbour beach, restaurants, pubs, cafes, shops, boutiques and galleries of Mevagissey. The village itself is an attractive harbour side village which was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishing industry. It still boasts a working harbour with a few dozen small fishing boats. Fishing and boat trips can be taken from the harbour and there is a passenger ferry to the nearby port of Fowey. At the end of June each year, Mevagissey celebrates ‘Feast Week’ with local delicacies cooked freshly on the harbour and with local entertainments and dancing in the streets. An increasingly popular event is the ‘Meva Shanty Fest’; a celebration of Shanty music sung in and around the local pubs and streets of the village. In addition, the village has a wonderful set of Christmas lights with a ‘turning on’ celebration in December. The village also boasts its own aquarium, museum and model railway. Mevagissey is situated on the Southwest coastal path. You can walk in either direction and witness the stunning views out over St Austell bay. There are also numerous circular walks from the village.
