Company information

We feel very lucky to live and work on the stunning Yorkshire Coast, and the team at Hackness Grange looks forward to welcoming you, your families and friends to this beautiful part of the world. Yorkshire folk are warm and friendly, and we pride ourselves on making your stay with us a truly rememberable one.

Property information

Hackness Grange is a 19th Century Grade II Georgian Manor that pairs period features with elegant style. Surrounded by the stunning Yorkshire countryside and set in 17 acres of beautifully manicured grounds, a lake and woodland. Hackness Grange has something for everyone. The River Derwent runs alongside the hotel which is perfect for a spot of trout fishing, or you could test your skills with a game of lawn croquet. All our rooms have en-suite facilities and picturesque views of the gardens, lake and Yorkshire countryside. You can stay in the main house or choose one of our beautiful court yard rooms next to the old stables. You can enjoy an A-la-carte menu in the Derwent Restaurant or real gastro pub food in the 2325 Lounge where all our dishes are prepared using locally sourced ingredients. Our afternoon teas are served in the orangery overlooking the lake and the Johnstone Suite is where we hold our weddings, events and conference meetings. Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby Abbey, Dalby Forest, Castle Howard, York, the North York Moors and Railways are just some of the great places to visit whilst enjoying your stay at Hackness Grange.

Neighbourhood information

The hotel is 7 miles from Scarborough station and is in the village of Hackness, which nestles under the brow of hills forming the Derwent Valley. The local church can trace its own story back to 680A.D the same year that the Abbess Hilda of Whitby founded a monastery at the side of the lake as a retreat for monks and nuns from Whitby. There's plenty to do and many places to visit while enjoying your stay with us. The castle, museum, gallery and Stephen Joseph Theatre are in the town of Scarborough, and Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby Abbey, Dalby Forest, Castle Howard and the North York Moors and Railway are all accessible by car or public transport. We love our markets and festivals and these run throughout year. The North and South Bays sandy beaches are 7 miles away and are surrounded by cafes, traditional pubs and restaurants. Scarborough boasts two golf clubs on both the North and South bays, and the beautiful Peasholm Park, Open Air Theatre and Alpamare waterpark are on the Northside of the town. Having the North York Moors on our doorstep gives you the opportunity to explore and the Cleveland way is a great route for walking as are the fantastic cycling routes.
