With so many amenities and attractions on your doorstep it's possible to park the car for a few days and explore the immediate local area on foot. Thorpeness Meare which was inspired J M Barrie's Peter Pan is strolling distance from the house and here you can rent a boat on the lake to discover the Pirate's lair, Wendy's home and Captain's house to name but a few. In addition to the rowing boats, guests can also hire kayaks, dinghies and canoes. Keen golfers will be eager to tee-off on the 18 hole championship golf course, regarded as one of the finest heathland courses in Britain. On warmer days, a dip in the sea is always a must - Thorpeness has a wonderful stretch of shingle beach. If you feel yourself getting peckish after all of that exploring, directly opposite the property is The Dolphin Inn which serves a delicious Sunday lunch or why not head to The Kitchen for a light-bite. In August, the Thorpeness Regatta is a highlight for the area, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over the Meare, not to be missed. Heading along the coast is the popular seaside town of Aldeburgh. The town has a vibrant art and music scene, along with a bustling high street of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
