Hoarthorns Hideaway is a double railway carriage that has been renovated by ourselves to a high standard in 2022. It is located on our small working sheep farm and is set within its own large enclosed lawn space. The property comprises of an open plan living space with a smart tv and wifi leading to the double bedroom and bathroom. Outside is a picnic bench and bbq all set in an enclosed paddock with its own parking. In the adjoining part of the paddock there are sheep and in the next door field - viewing through a picture window -are usually cows and calves. There are bird feeders, lots of wildlife from wild boar to deer, lots of birds and squirrels. This is the perfect place for a quiet back to nature romantic break away and there are fabulous walks straight from the carriages within the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean which boasts some stunning scenery. This is a perfect base from which to visit nearby attractions which include Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood, Perrygrove Steam Railway, Sculpture Trail and a Railway Museum. The Forest of Dean has always been a huge draw for cyclists and walkers. There are also 2 cinemas locally . Raglan castle, Monmouth, Ross on Wye are all well worth a visit whilst you are here.

Hi, we are Carol & Will and we would like to welcome you to Hoarthorns Hideaway here in the fantastic picturesque Forest of Dean. As of September 2024, we are now hosting this property ourselves instead of using an agent, please check out some of our previous reviews on F/Book, (Hoarthorns Hideaway). Also, on Google Maps (Hoarthorns Hideaway). We are on a small holding where we run a flock of commercial sheep. lambing time for us is basically through March. We also have ducks and chickens, as well as a cat and 2 gorgeous border collies. We would like you to have a fabulous holiday here and hopefully you will want to come again. We love it when our guests return (and we have had a few!). We can be as interactive with you (or not), as you want us to be, we are always on the end of a phone for queries. Guests have been seriously impressed by the quality of the accommodation and that we have done the renovation ourselves. Hoarthorns hideaway is located in a beautiful idyllic rural location to spot wildlife and there are a lot!! There are several nice places to eat out in the area, lots of local pubs a short drive away with good quality food if you don't feel like cooking. The Orepool, The Miners, The White Horse to name a few. There is a book in Hoarthorns Hideaway that is filled in by our guests and it is full of recommendations of where to go to eat and fab places to see on your days out. There are some lovely walks straight into the woods from the carriages, there are lots of beauty spots local to the area, Symonds Yat viewpoint being particularly good. Cycling & Walking - if you are a cyclist or a walker, you are in luck!! The Forest of Dean offers scenic trails waiting to be explored. Cycling is very big around here with proper cycling trails - some are pretty extreme!!! Bike hire is available locally or bring your own - undercover bike racks here just bring your own lock. Puzzlewood is a magical forest trail which is very popular and things like Starwars is filmed there. RSPB Nagshead has hides to be able to view deer and wild boar if you don't actually see any roaming on your travels. Clearwell caves- venture underground to explore these fascinating limestone caves Ross on Wye is a lovely bustling town with boutique shops, Monmouth is similar. A bit further afield we have the market town of Abergavenny and also Hereford. We have The Wild Boar Chase ( which is actually a bike ride) every year, extreme cycling as well as family trails, all off road on designated tracks -you do cross some main roads- which are well maintained all thoughout the forest. We have a local vintage show which is held at The Speech House in September every year. There is just so much to do and see in the Forest of Dean, you will be surprised. A week is definitely not long enough!!
