From 3 Nov to 14 Dec 2025, our lift will be fully replaced. Rooms will be accessible via stairs only. We apologise for any inconvenience and are happy to assist with any questions. Ideally situated in the historic capital of Cumbria, the ibis Carlisle is just 200 metres from Carlisle Citadel Railway Station. On the outskirts of the Lake District, this modern hotel has easy access to the M6 motorway and local road network. With free Wi-Fi throughout, the ibis Carlisles' 102 rooms include an automatic climate control system and tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite shower rooms have a hairdryer. The hotel’s facilities include a 24-hour reception desk, car rental services, and free on site parking. Guests can enjoy light meals in the onsite restaurant and there is a late-night bar, which offers a 24-hour snack service. The Ibis Carlisle hotel has a superb central location, right in the heart of the city. The Lanes Shopping Centre is close by. Carlisle Cathedral, the castle, and the Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery are all just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel.

"An easy 4 minute walk from Carlisle train station. Situated in the centre of the town which is what we wanted. because of this we were warned of possible street noise which we didn't get or at least it didn't bother us. Complimentary ear plugs..."

From North and South: leave the M6 motorway at junction 43, then take the A69 road signposted Carlisle City Centre. Drive all the way towards city centre and then take the left after Papa John's on to Cecil Street.

- From East: A69 road signposted Carlisle City Centre. Follow all the way toward city centre and then take the left just after Papa John's pizza onto Cecil Street.

Free parking, car park English Gate Plaza South is located at the back of the hotel, please use the postcode CA1 1NT , entrance via Portland Place or Cecil Street. Parking is free from arrival till 12 noon on the day of check out, the back door will lead you to the reception area, please inform staff at check in to register your vehicle.
