Jonty’s is a well converted barn, originally a sawmill for local cartwrights and joiners when the village provided gunpowder for the local slate mines. It is now the ground floor of two well appointed apartments in this fabulous Langdale village. Located in the picturesque village of Elterwater, this cottage has been a long time favourite for walkers enjoying Loughrigg Fell from the doorstep, The Langdale Pikes, or just gentle strolls along the beck or over to Grasmere for gingerbread teas. There is outside seating to soak up the sun and enjoy the views, or snuggle up in front of the wood burning stove inside and relax after a day exploring. From Jonty’s lounge, sit back and relax in front of the wood burning stove, enjoy the breath-taking views of the Lake District fells and let stress melt away. Jonty’s cottage blends traditional Lake District charm with modern contemporary comfort. Private off-road parking for one car is available onsite and we welcome up to two well behaved dogs.

Elterwater is a charming village in the heart of Langdale and the Lake District. It is just 5 miles from the bustling town of Ambleside with its shops, pubs, cafes, pubs, cinemas and gift shops. The famous Britannia Inn is just a short stroll away from the front door and Slates Bistro is on the corner opposite Elterwater’s magnificent maple tree. For fine dining, the welcoming Eltermere Inn is a five minute walk away over the stone bridge that spans the River Brathay. Surrounded by extensive lawns framed with awe-inspiring views, the Eltermere Inn combines the highest standards of service, good food and informality. For those who wish to explore further afield, a bus stop is located opposite Elterwater’s magnificent maple tree. Buses are frequent and connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination.
