We are Lynton and Pi. We have two children and a spaniel called Pixel. We live on site and though the huts are situated close to our house, they are quite private and self check-in. We are on hand for our guests if needed. ***A note to Guests*** Having listened to guest feedback, and in order to manage expectations, we would like to highlight that our two huts, The Rusty Hut and The Black Hut have double beds on a sleeping platform / mezzanine. Due to limitations on space, we have installed library-style ladders, with brakes, for guests to gain access. Most guests are comfortable with this arrangement, but for those who are unable, or disinclined to use a ladder, they can request to have the comfy double sofa bed made up on the ground floor. In addition, we have a gorgeous cottage, Mrs. Leonard's, which has a double bed on the ground floor.

The Rusty Hut at Bothan Jura Retreat, has open plan living and a mezzanine sleeping platform. The hut is small and designed to accommodate most of your needs. There is a full size kitchen with an oven, fridge-freezer and an induction hob. Cosy heating is provided by the wood burning stove. There is a small shower room with a toilet and sink, next to which is a shelved area for clothes storage. There is an option of a comfortable double sofa bed if you require two separate beds, or if you don’t quite fancy accessing the mezzanine bedroom. Please note that access to the mezzanine floor is by a library ladder. The Rusty Hut and The Black Hut are identical in design though individually styled. The Rusty Hut has a secure garden, perfect for guests with dogs, whereas The Black Hut's is more open to make the most of the incredible views. We also have Mrs. Leonard's Cottage, which is a slightly larger property, also with a private garden and the addition of an electric sauna. Complete a great day on Jura with Stargazing from your own wood fired hot tub! With no ambient light, Jura night skies take some beating. ***A new addition to the Bothan Jura Retreat Portfolio as of June 2025*** The Shepherd's Hut, is off-grid and sleeps two. Designed to be low-key & low-maintenance, it is a glamping experience rather than a serviced stay. Ideal for groups of three, as overspill, or if you've been washed out of your tent, or missed a ferry!

Bothan Jura Retreat is in the crofting community of Knockrome, 5km away from Craighouse heading north on The Long Road. A unique, incredibly special place, which we hope guests will hold long in their memories. The retreat lies very close to Corran Sands beach which is wonderful for long walks, and particularly enjoyed by dogs! Knockrome is an active crofting hamlet with livestock roaming freely due to their being no fences. Because of this, we politely ask that guests please keep their dogs under control and on leads whenever they are within the village. It takes around 7 minutes to drive to Craighouse, or is a 40 minute walk. If you would like to rent bikes please let us know, and we can arrange hiring from Jura Bikes who drop them off at the huts. We have developed Bothan Jura Retreat for up to 6 guests, with the cottage and huts now all fully completed. If you could please bear with us as the grounds recover from all the to-ing and fro-ing. There are some building materials remaining stacked up, but we endeavour to ensure these are not near the guest accommodation.
