This stunning, riverside property was converted in 2012 from a boathouse and cafe into two semi-detached properties. The River House is tastefully decorated in muted tones with bedroom carpets recently renewed (Dec '24). It offers all modern conveniences to make your stay comfortable. With a spacious open plan living space, combining lounge, dining, and kitchen area. It is just perfect for the end of day socializing. Located off the entrance hall is a WC and stairs to the upper floor. There are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and ensuite facilities with a walk-in shower. Bedroom 2 has a zip and link king size bed that can be split to create two singles if required (please request at the time of booking if the single bed option is required) The family bathroom has a shower over the bath. Bedrooms and lounge all have river and viaduct views. If check-in before 2pm is required for your stay, please consider booking the night before to guarantee this. We can not accommodate a check-in before 3pm. Usual check-in time is from 4pm. ONE well-behaved Dog welcome (extra charges apply) We have ONE allocated parking space suitable for a car in a secure gated courtyard. Additional parking can be found just outside the gates at Highbridge Green (free) or the public car park across the road. No Campervans or Transits allowed. The property is owner managed and maintained.

I have been a host for 13 years and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many interesting and lovely people along the way. If you prefer the flexibility of self check in, there is a key safe at the property for your convenience, and I can meet and greet, when possible, if required. I live in Knaresborough, making any assistance you may need, easy. I love to travel, exploring the UK and overseas. My elderly Mother lives with us. When the weather is good she will come and have a stroll (and an ice cream) on Waterside whilst I do the changeovers!

The River House is situated on Waterside right beside the River Nidd, and is on the opposite river bank to the entrance to Mother Shipton's Cave. There are cafes and pubs, not to mention boating and ice creams available, as you stroll along Waterside. A short uphill walk takes you to the train station, the towns Market Square and Knaresborough Castle. The town holds a weekly market on Wednesdays where you can listen to our traditional Town Cryer! An Artisan market in the castle grounds, is held on the first Saturday of the month March - October. This lovely little market town also boasts an array of individual shops, coffee houses, pubs and restaurants. Annual events, to name just a few, include; Bed Race day (June) Duck Race day (1st Jan) Tug of War (boxing day) Knaresborough Tractor Run (March) FEVA festival (August) Christmas Tree festival (December) There are also seasonal events at Mother Shipton's Cave, including Easter, Halloween & at Christmas, a visit to Santa! The petrifying well or dropping well at Mother Shipton's Cave is one of the oldest paying tourist attractions in England and has been in operation since 1630. A walk through the forest and a peak inside the prophetesses' birthplace gives the visitor an eerie sense of times gone by.
