Tucked away in the picturesque village of Chelsworth in the heart of Suffolk, Maltings Lodge is a stylish and detached countryside retreat that perfectly combines contemporary comfort with rural charm. Just a short four-minute stroll from the award-winning pub, Peacock Inn and a ten-minute drive from the historic mediaeval village of Lavenham, an ideal base for exploring the beauty of Suffolk. With generous gardens overlooking rolling countryside and parking for up to six cars, it’s a wonderful setting for families and friends to relax and reconnect.

The village of Chelsworth is considered one of Suffolk's prettiest and is situated within the heart of the Suffolk wool towns. Each year on the last Sunday in June, the village hosts an open garden event where over 20 gardens are open to the public with stalls and refreshments. The village pub The Peacock Inn, located just a few minutes walk away has recently been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence resulting in a spot on the latest Michelin Guide; this 14th Century timber-framed inn, nestled on the banks of the river Brett offers a menu of traditional pub classics showcasing the best of Suffolk produce and their traditional roasts on Sunday lunchtimes are particularly popular. There are many other excellent pubs and restaurants within easy reach of the cottage. For provisions, Hollow Trees Farm is a just a short drive away and is an excellent farm shop selling fresh, local, delicious food as well as a farm trail which makes for an excellent outing for families. There are so many things to do on the doorstep the neighbouring village of Monks Eleigh is home to Bridge Farm Barns, a collection of independent retailers and a tea room which are well worth the visit. Less than ten minutes' drive from the property is the mediaeval village of Lavenham. The village is home to over 300 listed buildings with timber frames lining the narrow streets and lanes. The Guildhall is one of the finest timber-framed buildings in Britain and reflects the great wealth of Lavenham's early 16th Century success. Lavenham has a number of independent boutiques, galleries and restaurants including Lavenham Blue Vintage Tea Rooms. For the best ice cream in the area, be sure to visit The Parlour on the High Street. A little further afield is the historic village of Long Melford which was made famous by the artists Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable.
