Meadow View, situated in Chapel Stile, is one of a row of traditional Lakeland slate cottages built in the 19th century for local workers families. Meadow View is laid out on three floors and provides accommodation for five people. Downstairs is the kitchen diner and a cosy lounge. On the first floor are a double and single bedroom and bathroom. On the top floor is a twin room, further WC and shower room and small sitting area. It is cosy and is a well appointed. A large cellar runs the full length of the house – ideal for drying wet clothes and boots. From the cellar, there is access to the rear of the house to the small, very pleasant garden which has views up the valley and of the surrounding hills. There is on-street parking to the front of the property and further parking available locally. The heart of the village is just a short stroll away. In the village you can find the well stocked local convenience store -the Langdale Co-op, Brambles Cafe, and the welcoming village church – The Great Langdale Holy Trinity and Wainwrights Inn which sells local brewed ales and provides good homemade food. The famous climbers inn The Old Dungeon Ghyll, New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel and Stickle Barn Tavern (now owned by the National Trust) are just up the Langdale Valley.

Chapel Stile, in the heart of the Langdale valley, is a village that used to serve the local slate workings – well served on a good local bus route and with a convenient little Co-op which carries an impressive stock to support you on your holidays, and of course the local village pub, Wainwrights Inn. It is just 5 miles away from Ambleside, a much busier tourist hub with many shops, cinemas and a variety of eateries to suit most palates. Grasmere is only 9 miles away, famous for its lake, gingerbread and home to William Wordsworth which he described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found." For those who wish to explore further afield, a bus stop is located nearby in Chapel Stile. Buses are frequent and connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!
