We are Lynton and Pi. We have two children and a spaniel called Pixel. We live on site and though the huts are situated close to our house, they are quite private and self check-in. We are on hand for our guests, if needed.

Perfect for couples wishing to relax and unwind, Mrs Leonard's Cottage is part of Bothan Jura Retreat which is in the crofting hamlet of Knockrome. The cottage is an old 'but and ben' crofters house and our first renovation; a true labour of love. Mrs. Leonard, after whom the cottage is named, was the last occupier before the cottage fell into ruin. After an extensive facelift, the cottage offers modern, open-plan living with a sitting area & wood-burning stove, a small but amply equipped kitchen, a double bed and a shower room off to the side, all on one level. Located above on a mezzanine and accessed by a library ladder, is a further sleeping area, perfect for stargazers! An additional treat is the private electric sauna, as well as a fully enclosed garden and a wood-fired hot tub. You won't want to leave! The other properties on the retreat include The Black Hut and The Rusty Hut; two slightly smaller though equally sensitively designed properties. They offer all the necessary indoor comforts, as well as having their own private hot tubs. The sauna is unique only to the cottage, and not available for use by guests in the huts. ***A new addition to the Bothan Jura Retreat Portfolio as of June 2025*** The Shepherd's Hut, is off-grid and sleeps two. Designed to be low-key & low-maintenance, it is a glamping experience rather than a serviced stay. Ideal for groups of three as overspill, or if you've been washed out of your tent, or missed a ferry!

Bothan Jura Retreat is in the crofting community of Knockrome, 5km away from Craighouse heading north on The Long Road. Close to the glorious Corran Sands beach, Knockrome is an active crofting hamlet with livestock roaming freely. There are no fences and so we kindly ask guests to please keep dogs under control and on leads when in the village. It takes 7 minutes to drive into Craighouse, or a 40 minute walk. If you would like to rent bikes to get around the island, please let us know as we are happy to organise hiring them from Jura Bikes who deliver them to us for our guests. We have developed our retreat for up to 6 guests. The cottage and huts are all fully completed, but please bear with us as the grounds are still recovering from all the to-ing and fro-ing.
