Off Grid Travel is a small company of just 3 individuals, committed to changing the face of tourism. We are about eco luxury, about creating buildings that touch the ground lightly, about leaving nothing permanent in the ground, about giving the opportunity for guests to reconnect in beautiful, natural settings and working with local suppliers. Based in Scotland, Cambo Estate is our first location. We design our own buildings with our manufacturing partner. They are designed to be completely off the grid, incredibly thermally secure and are made from home grown Scottish timber. The manufacturing process designs out waste and the buildings are are better than carbon neutral, they are carbon negative! We choose locations for our cabins where guests can get back to nature - no cars, peace and quiet, wildlife and absolutely no neighbours. Our cabins are never next to each other. We want everyone to enjoy the outdoor space - the firepit, the bbq that can be moved, the seating areas and decks. From the design of the buildings to all the details inside, we are committed to sustainability, supporting local, reducing waste and showcasing that "being green" can be luxurious. Some of the off grid technologies in our cabins are standard, some our taken from other industries (such as motorhomes or yachts). The drainage is a system we developed ourselves with professional support and uses no harsh chemicals, only worms! We are always looking for ways to improve and for new technologies and renewable energy solutions.

Our guests love the total seclusion and privacy of our two cabins. They are 350m apart and surrounded completely by nature. Guests admire our total commitment to sustainability and the environment. We are completely off the grid and yet most guests would not notice as there is no compromise on experience. Guests love the huge efforts we put into sourcing everything locally, organically, sustainably and from B Corps wherever we can. From cushions, to the pillows, duvets and towels - everything has a environmental commitment. The local farm shop can delivery to our location. Plus guests can get in touch with us to enquire about the amazing Food Hampers that are available to pre order before arrival. Delicious breakfast hampers, bbq supper boxes or picnic hampers can be delivered ahead of arrival. Cambo Estate is filled with lots to see and do. Great walking routes on the estate itself (whether woodland walks or directly down to the beach), explore the nearby walking paths or book a game of golf at one of the many courses in the vicinity. Kingsbarns Golf Course is on the same estate and just a few minutes walk. Cambo Café: opens at 10:00 every day and is filled with delicious homemade meals, treats and delicious scones. The café has WIFI connectivity and is open until 17:00 in summer and 16:00 the rest of the year. Kingsbarn Distillery: a short walk away the distillery offers super whisky and gin tours, tastings and even gin making experiences. They have a super terrace and a variety of delicious gin and tonic mixes. Fife Coastal Path: hiking the coastal path provides you with super scenery and a great view of the area. It is easily accessible from the HideAway and the Bothy and is under 5mins walk away. Careful planning and research should be done on the route you plan to take as some of the path is tidal and has rough or muddy terrain.

Just over an hour from Edinburgh, this hidden corner of the ancient Scottish kingdom of Fife (called the East Neuk) offers a surprising range of adventures. Enjoy a gentle walk through woodland to a waterfall or explore the coastline in a sea kayak with expert local guides. Round off a day with a wonderful meal of fresh seafood in a nearby fishing village. The East Neuk of Fife was once at the very heart of Scotland's east coast fishing trade. The charming tiny harbours dotting the coastline are reminders to this past, though nowadays the boats are mostly for pleasure. This history is still knitted into these communities and a day spent exploring the small villages along the East Neuk is not to be missed - there are local craft shops, great pubs and for younger explorers, some wonderful rock pools calling to be investigated. The Fife coastal path runs through the entire area, and right along the border of Cambo Estate, just 2 mins walk from the Bothy and under 5 mins from the HideAway. This is a great hiking route to enjoy long days of wandering in nature. Elie's "Chain Walk" is a true adventure and there are all kinds of water sports and inland activities to draw you outdoors. The nearby historic town of St. Andrews offers not just famous golf courses but also two huge beaches, an aquarium, the stunning ruins of the 12th century castle and Cathedral and the famous harbour and pier. In other direction from Cambo the small, pretty villages of Crail and Anstruther offer crafts, cafes, pretty harbours and world class fish and chips!
