Experience eco-friendly living in this unique cottage with a living green roof, a wood burning stove and woodland garden. We chose to build a straw bale house for its warmth and thick walls. Inside even on a cold rainy day it is warm and cosy sitting round the fire. In the heat of summer it is wonderfully cool and restful. The house was lovingly built with local natural materials and a bespoke design for our family to live in and is now a luxurious holiday cottage. The View: climb the steps to the woodland garden and you are looking over your own roof at the stunning view, on a clear day this stretches all the way over the river Severn into Wales. Holistic treatments: we offer relaxing and nurturing reflexology and massage treatments onsite, by prior arrangement, in the warmth and comfort of your ‘home’. Parking: there is an individual parking space for the cottage. We provide pure cotton bed linen and towels. Duvet and pillows are feather and down. Tea, coffee, herb teas, olive oil, salt and pepper are provided. A jug of milk will be in the fridge, this is usually raw, farm-gate whole Jersey milk delivered by a local farmer.
About me and living here at Beachwood I love living on this hillside with the views and the ancient coppiced woodland that borders our property. On the other side is a conservation area where cowslips and wild orchids grow. Living on the border of these two habitats we have a wide range of birds which has increased over the years as I’ve fed a variety of food to suit the different types. We are lucky to be able to go through our garden gate straight onto the Cotswold Way, or one of the many other footpaths, to walk across the fields or through woods. My garden is where I most like to be when I have some spare time. We enjoyed making this space; I like how the grass and wildflower roof helps the building blend into the countryside. When you get here can you spot the kitten footprints sun-baked into the Spanish terracotta floor tiles? “I like to share this lovely place with people who come to visit and appreciate it. I hope everyone will benefit in some way from the natural surroundings and peaceful atmosphere. We are here to do everything we can to give you a truly great time and hope you will have an enjoyable, interesting, relaxing or inspirational stay.”
It is easy to forget you are just ten minutes drive away from Bath in this rural retreat where you can only hear birdsong and the wind in the trees, no traffic. Yet in those few minutes you can be in the centre of the beautiful, historic Georgian city of Bath. Views and walks With spectacular views for miles, on a clear day all the way to Wales, the location borders the Cotswold Way It is ideal for the many local walks or for sitting enjoying the view! On the edge of woodland and grassland there is a wide variety of birds and animals Visitors to Bath can experience the: Roman Baths Thermae Spa Abbey Pump Rooms Assembly Rooms Rich selection of boutique and high street stores all within easy walking distance Boat trips Gardens Bath has a wide range of cultural events such as museums, theatres, cinemas, concerts and festivals Nearby: One minutes walk from the property is the site of the Civil War battle of Lansdown Dyrham Park and many other National Trust properties and open gardens The famous Westonbirt Arboretum Bath Race course is half a mile away Tracy Park and Lansdown golf courses are within a mile
