Snittlegarth was bought in 1945 by the Green family, and has been passed through 3 generations and is primarily permanent pasture for beef and sheep. Our three identical lodges are located on the edge of our property, but if you’re lucky, you might spot some of our chickens, pigs or horses from your window!

These quality detached lodges are spacious and offers beautiful interior décor and contemporary furnishings throughout, and unlike many holiday lodges, they have been built to residential standards, so you get the experience that a typical lodge holiday brings, with the comforts you would expect at home, and more! The master bedroom has a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom; there is also a twin bedroom both with plush beds and plenty of storage solutions for your clothes and belongings, and a separate shower room. The heart of these property is the amazing open-plan style living room, kitchen and dining area, perfect for spending time together with loved ones and making amazing memories. With plenty of easy seating, a dining table and a well-equipped, contemporary kitchen, you have all the ingredients for a great holiday. Step outside and you’re straight onto private decking with excellent views of the green fields that surround this stunning part of Cumbria. Snittlegarth Lodges are located on a working farm in a small, private development, just for you, your loved ones and nature. It’s a haven for wildlife, as well as the farm animals. Snittlegarth is home to roe deer, badgers, red squirrels, pheasants and a variety of songbirds. The original Snittlegarth Estate was owned by Lord Gillford and extended to 12,000 acres. It is now farmed on a smaller scale and has the benefit of local footpaths Binsey Fell and beyond. Snittlegarth lies in a great location and a truly tranquil valley close to Ireby and Uldale on the northern fringe of the Lake District National Park. In the nearby villages of Ireby and Uldale, you’ll find country pubs serving local ales and great food. With just a short drive to Bassenthwaite (11 minutes), you’ll get plenty of family fun including Alpaca Trekking and the Lake District Wildlife Park. A 20-minute drive to Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth, you have a wide range of independent retailers, coffee shops, bars and pubs.
