'Staplehurst Cottage' - really two Shipbuilders Cottages combined - was built by the year 1780 and is situated in the village of Sandgate, Folkestone Kent. We offer; one Holiday Cottage consisting of (the one on the left in the Cottage photo) a comfortable bedroom with an adjoined bathroom - with a glimpse of the sea - 150 yards walk away. There is a separate large comfortable Lounge with a Flat Screen Smart TV and a Dining Table. A Kitchinette, with a Table and Chairs, a Microwave Oven, a Double Electric Induction Hob, a Toaster, etc.

Valerie is the perfect host, who lives next door. She is a keen Gardener and in Summer has many beautiful plants on show.

Two minutes level walk to the Sandgate beach. On the way there you will pass the 16th Century Sandgate Castle, built by Henry Vlll - not personally. The village High Street has Antique shops, good Restaurants, old fashioned Pubs and Cafes. Also, there is the Saga Country Park where you may walk or hire bicycles. From the Sandgate Beach you may Walk, or Cycle, along the Promenade in either direction; one way takes you 1.5 miles into Folkestone Town and the Folkestone Harbour Arm Area. The other direction takes you to Hythe. Hythe has the Neapolitan Royal Military Canal; set in a pleasant Park Area where you can hire a boat, play Tennis and Bowls as well as use the inside heated Swimming Pool. It also has a charming High Street with plenty of interesting shops. There is also the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Miniature Railway. The local regular Bus Service is two minutes’ walk away and its routes reach Folkestone in five minutes and Hythe in seven minutes. Go further to Ashford, Rye or into Dover or Canterbury - the Cathedral being a World Heritage site. The Euro Tunnel and the Dover Port are both about 10miles away from Staplehurst Cottage, though in different directions.
