Adventure awaits you in this rustic getaway. Based in the grounds of the former Tannery the detached cottage dates back to the early 18th century. It is one of the oldest properties in the conservation area of Whixley, and is of significant historical heritage. The cottage is part of the group of buildings that made up the main house and the working outbuildings. Enjoy the fabulous views over Whixley Park. There is a private courtyard and a log burner to enjoy on the colder evenings.

The best thing about hosting is meeting the kind, friendly and interesting people who stay. Whether its a brief chat or a thank you message. Making sure guests get the most out of their visit to the area. I live in one of the properties located next to the cottage and I am usually here should you need anything. Whixley is situated in the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire. It is a quiet and conveniently located village. Situated mid way between York and Harrogate there is also easy access to Boroughbridge, Karesborough and Ripon. We have an abundance of historic houses in the area. Nearby we have Allerton Castle, Newby Hall & Gardens, Ripley Castle, Harewood House as well as Castle Howard and many more. There is a local shop and public house called the Anchor Inn. We are just over a mile away from Cattal train station which is on the train line between Harrogate & York. The Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Park are all accessible day trips. The coast at Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby are also accessible day trips. There is a train station just over a mile away at Cattal. The train is 15 minutes to York and 20 minutes to Harrogate. The Harrogate train also continues into Leeds. There is also a bus service to York and Boroughbridge but best to check the times as it is only every couple of hours.
