Come and visit the wild and beautiful island of Jura! We live on site with our two children, two adorable cats and a friendly, lovable spaniel called Pixel! Though the huts are situated close to our house, they are quite private and you only need to see us if you want to. Bothan Jura Retreat comprises of three individually designed properties: The Black Hut, The Rusty Hut & Mrs. Leonard's Cottage; our slightly bigger property with a private garden and the addition of an electric sauna. The Black Hut has open plan living and a mezzanine sleeping platform. There is a full size kitchen, with an oven, fridge-freezer, induction hob, and the it is heated by a wood burning stove. There is a small shower room with a toilet and sink. *** PLEASE NOTE: Guests can request the comfortable double sofa bed to be made up if two separate beds are required, or you don’t fancy climbing up to the mezzanine bedroom, which is accessed by a library ladder. Alternatively, please take a peek at Mrs. Leonard's Cottage. *** The Black Hut is open to the front, with magnificent sea & mountain views, whereas the Rusty Hut has an enclosed garden which makes it ideal for guests with dogs who might prefer a little security. The star gazing from your own wood fired hot tub is without doubt, exceptional as Jura has almost no ambient night light. ***A new addition to the Bothan Jura Retreat Portfolio as of June 2025*** The Shepherd's Hut, is off-grid and sleeps two. Designed to be low-key & low-maintenance, it is a glamping experience rather than a serviced stay. Ideal for groups of three as overspill, or if you've been washed out of your tent, or missed a ferry!

Bothan Jura Retreat is in the crofting community of Knockrome, 5km away from Craighouse heading north on The Long Road. Close to the glorious Corran Sands beach, Knockrome is an active crofting hamlet with livestock roaming freely. There are no fences and so we kindly ask guests to please keep dogs under control and on leads when in the village. It takes 7 minutes to drive to Craighouse, or a 40 minute walk. If you would like to rent bikes to get around the island, please let us know as we are happy to organise hiring them from Jura Bikes, who drop them off at the huts for guests. We have developed our retreat for up to 6 guests. The cottage and huts are all fully completed, but please bear with us as the grounds are continue to recover from all the to-ing and fro-ing.
