The Bothy is a very special, romantic little space for two, nestled in a wooded glade with its own private wood-fired hot tub, on our family property. We live next door, so although we respect our guest's privacy, we are on hand should our guests need anything. The Bothy is a Georgian building, originally a tack room & estate office. We are wonderfully placed for hikes right from the doorstep and two pubs in short walking distance. We renovated the Bothy three years ago and its very comfortable with a memory foam mattress, Egyptian cotton bedding, a woodburning stove and cosy furnishings. However, we are not a hotel. This is more of a cabin in the woods experience. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The bathroom is a 20 second walk away, through a gate into the farmyard. It is a 'wetroom'- a small space in which everything is designed to get wet! It is fully tiled with a loo, rainfall as well as hand held shower and a sink. PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING! THIS SET UP WILL NOT SUIT EVERYONE! There is a fridge, coffee machine & teamaking machine- NO COOKING FACILITIES BUT WE DO OFFER BREAKFAST & WE ARE WALKING DISTANCE TO TWO PUBS. HOTEL OPPOSITE DOES TAKEAWAY PIZZAS. The Bothy is up a few stone steps- there is no disabled access & we don't accept children or babies as guests. We do aim to offer a unique experience in a truly idyllic setting- right opposite Beatrix Potter's home, Hilltop Farm.

Hello! We are Sarah & Rob. We live next door at the main house with our teenage children, three very friendly dogs, a cat & three bantam hens. We love meeting our guests, and many opt to come and have breakfast in the dining room of the main house. But equally, we can do a self-checkin whereby guests come and go without having to interact at all! We have lots of local knowledge which we are happy to share.

We are opposite Beatrix Potter's Hilltop Farm meaning you can walk over and visit this charming little cottage museum easily. We are walking distance to two lovely pubs, The Tower Bank Arms & The Cuckoo Brow Inn. You can hike right from the door and walk to beautiful Esthwaite water to see the Ospreys and visit the cafe, or walk to lake Windermere, Claife Viewing Station & we are only 5 minutes drive to Hawkshead village with its shops, pubs and attractions. Our property is a haven for wildlife, with at least thirty different bird types visiting our garden daily, including buzzards, tawny & little owls, oyster catchers, robins, blackbirds, song thrushes & many types of finch. We are also lucky to have a healthy population of slow worms, bats & all of the things they feed on!
