I started the business in 2004 and I pride myself on being a friendly family run B&B. I am very involved in the Scout Movement in Southend and are passionate about encouraging and teaching life skills to young people. There may be times when i will leave a key in the key box whilst I am at various meetings.

The Moorings was built in the 1920’s when trams used to operate up and down the seafront. Now the local bus can pick you up or drop off near the front of the business and take you into the centre of Southend where you can visit the shops, restaurants and bars. Southend on Sea is a resort town on the Thames Estuary in Essex. The longest pleasure pier in the World is serviced by a small train and is just over a mile from the B&B. Nearby is Adventure Island which is a fun park with more than 40 rides and attractions from roller coaster to ghost trains. There are many award winning beaches to visit and bikes can be hired in the town centre if you would like to enjoy the seafront bike routes. Leigh on Sea is on the outskirts of the town and you can walk the cobbled stone paths of Old Leigh and try a plate of “cockles” with a local brewed beer or visit the many independent shops and cafes along Leigh Broadway. Southend Airport is 15 minute drive way and if it’s at a convienent time, transport can be arranged to and from the airport. Visiting London couldn’t be easier, on a direct train to London Fenchurch Street you could be there in less than an hour. Within an hours drive from The Moorings there are pelnty of places to visit in Essex form Hyde Hall, Colchester Castle and Zoo to shopping at Lakeside. At The Moorings, the rooms include a flat screen TV, cosy en- suite with shower, tea, coffee making facilities, hairdryer, bedlinen, towels and Wi Fi. There is a free public car park behind The Moorings and free street parking within walking distance. A full English, tourist board award winning breakfast is served for you, including locally sourced ingredients. Cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit can aslo be enjoyed with toast, tea and coffee.

The Moorings B&B is right on the seafront. There is a sea theme throughout including a boat in the front garden – so you won’t miss it. The free public car park entrance is four doors down from The Moorings.
