Bodiam is a small village in the East Sussex countryside. An hour and a half from London, Bodiam sits on the river Rother which offers plenty of sporting activities in the summer months such a paddle boarding and canoeing. Roughly a 30-minute drive to the lively seaside resort of Hastings or the more tranquil and perfect beaches of Camber, offering excellent family days out. There are miles of rural walks right on the doorstep and an excellent array of country pubs within a 10-minute drive. Bodiam is known for its iconic castle, which is run by the national trust, with its own tearoom or visitors are welcome to bring their own picnic to enjoy in the grounds. There is also the Kent and east Sussex railway which operates a real steam rain to and from Tenterden during spring and the summer months. Although famous for its castle, Bodiam was a main hop growing area and was famous for growing hops for Guinness. The land has now proved equally beneficial for growing vines, with several local producers making English wines. Many offer vineyard tours and wine tasting.
