It lies tucked away in the corner of Plompton Square which was once a stable block and workers’ cottages of a grand country estate. If you’re looking for a quiet romantic getaway for 2, The Smithy is an ideal location with scenic surroundings and country walks on your doorstep. You’ll have access to a beautiful private walled garden, with fruit trees and wild flowers (located just a few yards away), where you can relax, enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. If on the other hand you want to use it as a base you won’t be short of things to do. Nearby, the Victorian Spa town of Harrogate offers many delights including the Victorian Turkish Baths and Spa, The Pump Room Museum, the famous Betty’s tea rooms and the RHS Harlow Car Gardens. Within a few miles you’ll find the Cathedral city of Ripon, Knaresborough Castle, Ripley Castle, Bolton Abbey, Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden and the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Dales National Park. There is full free WiFI and a flatscreen smart TV, so you'll be able to log onto your favourite subscriptions and be feeling right at home in no time. The Smithy is located in close proximity of Plumpton Rocks, a 30 acre parkland with dramatic Millstone Grit rock formations, romantic woodland trails which wind through bluebells and rhododendrons. The site has been designated a Grade 2* listed man-made lake set against a backdrop of towering rocks eroded by the wind. It has been described by English Heritage to be of outstanding interest. Please note the park is seasonal and there is a charge so please check the opening times their website.
