The Stables at Winksley is newly available and is a complete rebuild and renovation of our old stable block. It is a beautiful pet free holiday cottage, ideal for guests with allergies. It is private and secluded, away from the main house, and adjacent to our one-acre field which is planted with trees, flowering plants and wildflowers. We converted three former stables into a large king size bedroom, a very spacious bathroom, walk in linen cupboard, a pretty hallway, a beautiful living room with log burning stove for those cool North Yorkshire evenings; and a stunning kitchen with everything you could wish for to create memorable dinners whilst on your Nidderdale break. The kitchen has a high vaulted ceiling, and is fully equipped with a full range of modern, new appliances. We even have a desk with external monitor, keyboard and mouse in case you need to plug your laptop in. Iron and ironing board, hairdryer and GHD straighteners are provided. There is underfloor heating throughout the house too as well as a multi-fuel stove, and the insulation is modern and comprehensive, to ensure cool temperatures when it's hot outside, and cozy warmth inside in the cold weather.

Ruth and I love to travel, and we are very discerning when it comes to the properties we stay in. As a result, we have built, decorated and furnished the Stables to the very highest standard. We hope that you love this new addition as much as we do. Our property is the main house situated at the top of a long driveway, with The Stables at the bottom. There is a large private, parking area directly outside the Stables, an outside terrace with a table and chairs, and our beautiful 3/4 acre field (in which you will often see deer and other wildlife). The fields adjacent to our property nearly always have young cows or sheep/lambs in, depending upon the time of year.

A beautiful and peaceful spot in a tiny Nidderdale village, 3 miles from Fountains Abbey/Studley Royal and 5 miles from Ripon. Ripon has a beautiful Cathedral, a lovely Thursday market plus monthly Little Bird artisan craft market, Yorkshire Law & Order Museums, Ripon races, a great selection of independent shops and restaurants; and an international music festival. The spa town of Harrogate with many attractions and restaurants is also easily accessible. The Stables is a 5 minute drive from the wonderful 5 star Grantley Hall Hotel and Spa, renowned as one of England's finest 5 star hotels with fantastic restaurants including Michelin starred Sean Rankin, vibrant oriental Restaurant 88; and 3 other restaurants and bars. Also recently opened in August 2025 and also only 5 minutes drive away, is the beautifully refurbished relaxed but refined Grantley Arms pub. A short 20 minute drive away is the wonderful Swinton Park hotel and estate, and the Stables is also close to a wide selection of pubs and restaurants in Ripon, Masham and the surrounding areas. We are in the middle of the Nidderdale National Landscape (formerly AONB), and surrounded by farmland, beautiful moorland, livestock, and great walking routes on local footpaths and bridleways. There is a lovely pub in the next village, the Galphay Inn which is 1.2 miles away, and other great pubs in the local area including the Bruce Arms at West Tanfield (8 miles away) and the newly refurbished Crown Inn at Grewelthorpe (4 miles away).
