On the edge of Gloucester, The Mooring Post offers award-winning accommodation and dining by the River Severn. There are luxurious en-suite rooms with river views, free Wi-Fi and parking. The Mooring Post includes 7 individual bedrooms and 1 family room, each with wonderful views of the River Severn and restored Canal Basin. Each room at The Mooring Post has a flat-screen TV, safe, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Most have a bath with shower above and are fully supplied with luxury toiletries. The Twin Room has a walk-in shower. The accommodation is adjacent to The Lock Keepers restaurant, which provides comforting, traditional British food with a contemporary twist. Menus include everything from beautifully seared steaks and sandwiches to light bites, lunches, brunches, burgers and puddings. The village of Over is less than 1 mile from the centre of Gloucester, with the attractive spa town of Cheltenham less than 10 miles away. Popular Cotswolds towns are as little as 35 minutes away, and you can reach the Forest of Dean in 20 minutes.

The entrance to The Mooring Post accommodation is based on the left hand side of the Lock Keepers restaurant. Our restaurant is open 9:00am - 8:30pm Tuesday to Saturday and 12:00pm - 6pm (last food order at 15:45) Sunday, if you are arriving with in these times we would be more than happy to check you in. However if you are arriving outside of these times please contact us prior to arrival so that we can send you the access codes for your accommodation. Please be aware that the restaurant is closed on Monday - so the hotel will be unmanned on these days and no breakfast is available. If you are departing on Monday please leave you key behind in the bedroom. Payment for your accommodation will be debited from your card 14 - 7 days prior to your arrival. Our cancellation policy is 2 weeks prior to arrival. If you need anything else at all or if you would like me to reserve any tables in the restaurant The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday 9:00am - 9:00pm, and Sundays 12:00pm - 3:45pm. However we offer contactless self check in so our accommodation is available, we will be in touch via your booking com inbox with the access codes prior to your stay.

Close to the City but perching above the River Severn and alongside a stretch of our very own restored Canal. You can abandon the car and walk off road into Gloucester Docks through a nature reserve or jump on a bus almost outside the front door. On site you can explore the Canal and our fleet of restored Heritage Boats. You may be lucky enough to see our breeding kingfishers, otters or swans - who raised 6 cygnets each of the last 3 years.

Please be aware the property in unmanned from 6pm Sunday, and on Mondays.

The restaurant is also closed Sunday evening and Monday so no food or breakfast is available.

Access to the accommodation is always possible via key code, this will be emailed to you prior to arrival if you are arriving after 5pm on Sundays, or on a Monday.

When travelling with dogs, please note that an extra charge of GBP 12 per dog per stay applies.
