We have five Dorset country cottages which make up Character Farm Cottages and is personally run by Jane Elwood who takes very great pride in ensuring the Dorset country cottages are “home from home” allowing you to have the perfect self catering holiday. Jane also runs the farm with her father, Rob. The farm is a mixed farm consisting of a dairy, beef cattle and arable. During the summer months, many of you will appreciate the sight of cows running the surrounding fields - a sight unfortunately becoming less frequent these days. Jane is married to Colin (generally known as Jake) who is in charge of cottage maintenance and keeping the website up and running. He will also do most of the email correspondence and bookings. When he is not doing this he is a long haul pilot for British Airways. The holiday cottages have been an established self catering accommodation business for over 35 years and many of our guests still return year after year!

We have five self-catering holiday cottages. Willows and Brambles are one-bedroom cottages for a secluded, romantic break or for single travelers. Sycamores, 3 Lower Farm, and the Swallows are two-bedroom cottages that sleep 4/5, ideal for families or couples who require a bit more space. All four-star rated, the farm holiday cottages are well-maintained and equipped to a high standard. We have been in the self-catering holiday business for over 30 years, with many of our guests returning year after year, so you can book with complete confidence. There is plenty to do in the local area You are spoiled for walks on the farm and along the coast, with the Coastal Footpath running through the farm. We are only five miles west of the seaside town of Weymouth, nicely secluded on the coast just a stone’s throw from the Fleet. Abbotsbury is a few miles to the west and famous for its historic Swannery and unique sub-tropical gardens. Our cottages are perfect for those looking for cycling, walking, fishing, or simply wanting the perfect peaceful countryside escape. On-site, we have the Old Stable complete with table tennis, table football, laundry facilities, and a good selection of books to borrow.
