Lynton, North Devon (on the edge of Exmoor National Park) Perched high above the dramatic North Devon coastline, Lynton is a charming Victorian town known as the “Little Switzerland of England” - and for good reason. With breathtaking sea views, winding cliffside streets, and lush Exmoor landscapes on its doorstep, it’s a haven for walkers, nature lovers, and anyone seeking peace and coastal charm. Just below Lynton lies Lynmouth, a picturesque harbour village connected to Lynton by the famous Cliff Railway - the highest and steepest fully water-powered railway in the world. Things to See & Do Nearby Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway (2 mins away) A must-do! This unique, water-powered funicular railway links the twin towns - enjoy stunning sea views as you glide between the harbour and the clifftop. Valley of Rocks (5 mins drive / 20 mins walk) A spectacular natural valley just outside Lynton, famous for its towering rock formations, wild goats, and incredible sunset views. South West Coast Path Pick up one of the UK’s most scenic walking trails right from town - expect dramatic clifftop views, hidden coves, and rolling moorland. Lynmouth Beach (0.9 miles) A beautiful pebble beach at the mouth of the East Lyn River, perfect for rock pooling, paddle boarding, or simply relaxing with an ice cream. Watersmeet (10 mins drive) A stunning woodland valley where two rivers meet, offering tranquil walks, waterfalls, and a National Trust tea garden. Exmoor National Park (on your doorstep!)
