Matevz was a school teacher and fencing trainer in Slovenia before he moved to Ghana and take care for Cocoa Village Guesthouse. He staying in Ghana now almost 10 years.

In 2007, Matevz decided to travel around Burkina Faso by bicycle. After a while, he grew bored of the flat desert landscape and crossed the border into Ghana. The people he met along the way advised him to visit Lake Bosumtwi, a meteorite crater lake. He found Lake Bosumtwi to be one of the most beautiful and captivating places he encountered during his journey through Ghana. The following year, he returned and purchased land. Cocoa Village Guesthouse, located deep in the bush of the Lake Bosumtwi meteorite crater, is undoubtedly a unique place and stands as the only lodge in the true sense of the word. We offer simple lodge-style accommodations with or without air conditioning, with Wi-Fi, all nestled in the middle of the meteorite crater lake (there are only six such lakes in the world).
