Direct access on foot (2 minutes) to a solitary beach, nesting site of sea turtles. True peace, panoramic view of sunset and starry sky. Friendly dogs and cats free in the vast garden. No crowd, strong lights or luxury finish. A simple place where beauty is also in imperfection, ideal for nature lovers seeking healthy and relaxing holidays. We have chosen not to have tv and wi-fi, however network coverage allows to use the smartphone as hotspot 5 mins drive to Apolakkia (minimarket, wi-fi, canoeing and zip line), 10 to Monolithos and Sianna (honey, suma, souvenirs), 20 to Gennadi and Prassonisi (health post, supermarket, wind & kite surf), 30 to Lindos. There is no public transport to our beach. We can arrange your travel to/from the airport and provide info on car/bike rental. Extra room+apartment available

I am Italian, Greece is my second home. In collaboration with Rhodes’ Club of Environment, British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, Chelon and the Universities of Athens and Roma 3, in the late 90’s I organized several initiatives targeting the protection of South Rhodes’ natural environment. Our voluntary work contributed to stop the construction of a power plant and to include Apolakkia beach, nesting site of the sea turtle Caretta Caretta, in the network Nature 2000. In 2001 I hosted orphan children in my house in Glikorizo (Licorice), facing the beach. I was engaged for over 20 years in humanitarian projects, in Afghanistan and other countries. In Glikorizo there are no luxury features, no crowd. It’s a quiet, simple place where beauty is also in imperfection. Our friendly dogs, cats and chicken are free in the garden. You can collect herbs, use our organic aloe, meet the deer and other wild animals, hear the sound of waves and crickets, watch starry skies and the sunset on the sea. I am happy to share Glikorizo with people who respect nature and seek a holiday out of the schemes.
