Psili Ammos means “fine sand” and it is a sandy beach and it is probably the name that makes it the most popular beach at the Samos Island. Psili Ammos is a 200 m long and cliffs protect the beach from the wind and create a nice feel of isolation. As most of the beaches are pebbled in the Island, sandy shore and the shallow calm sea makes Psili Ammos an ideal place for all ages and especially families. The beach offers sunbeds, umbrellas also there are several local tavernas and a mini market in the current area of the beach with easy access. West of Psili Ammos there is a shallow lagoon, which occupies the area of the old salt-pits. The importance of the site is that a big number of bird species (Flamingos, wild ducks etc) visit this wetland in November until June and it is a very important staging post for bird migration.
