Our Villa is located just a 15-min drive from the beach, restaurants, bars, café and shops. The enchanting city of Chania is a 30-minute drive away, while the splendid coastal town of Rethymnon is also within easy reach. Its superb location helps you to explore the beauties of Crete island. Vafes is located in Apokoronas, Chania, a village with a long history and has been alive for hundreds of years. In the village you will find the Cave of Kryonerida where it has great historical importance for the locals. There is also the beautiful chapel of Agios Ioannis. Finally, there is the Kalamato Cave, which is a multi-dimensional cave with small chambers, barrels, stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is accessible only by experienced cavers. The beach of Georgioupolis is only 11.5km away, where you will find cafes, taverns, a pharmacy, a supermarket etc. The beach is sandy with many visitors and locals loving it very much. The special little church of Agios Nikolaos located in the sea will make you stand out. In the river that is there you can rent sea bikes and enjoy the nature. Lake Kournas is 15km away and a walk will make you admire this wonderful wetland with its rare beauty and full of bird, fish and plant life. You will find many taverns and you can walk in some places along the lake. It is the only natural freshwater lake in Crete. While you will find many Byzantine churches. At 18km away you will find Omprogialos, where the waters are green-blue, clear and cool, giving a visually magical image. The surrounding villages are full of life, small cafes “cretan kafeneio” and traditional taverns.
