Kokkino Chorio (Κόκκινο Χωριό, Red Village) is a quaint village nestled under the Mount Drapanos, overlooking the Bay of Souda. The area is quiet as it mainly comprises of private villas and houses. The beautiful beaches of Almyrida and Kalyves are only few minutes drive away. The village has a mini market, a kafeneio (καφενείο, coffee bar) and a taverna in the main square. To some it is known as the setting for the movie Zorba the Greek with Anthony Quinn, Alan Bates and Irene Papas.
