Dimitris - the owner- is a medical doctor, an orthopaedic surgeon. That means a very busy and stressed life, full of responsibility of other’s people life. A nature lover himself, he used to walk in the area with his favourite dogs, so to recharge his batteries. On these peaks, where everyone can see almost every corner of the island, he discovered this view. He spent hours there admiring the full moon and the rising sun emerging from the sea, and his thought was that this view should not be a privilege for his eyes only but for everyone. As a doctor, he has an inner need to heal. The Healing Springs which are located below the suites inspired him into creating a luxurious accommodation that combines pleasure and sanity. He believes that the healing qualities of these springs should be offered to everyone. Guests have the opportunity to swim in the caves that the water of the healing springs is coming from, and live a unique experience, a free of charge, natural spa experience. This is how the idea of offering the suites to others was born. It is a gesture of giving. Xigia beach is a lovely pebbly beach with crystal blue waters, that deepen sharply. At first that might sound as a typical Ionian beach, however that is not the case. Xigia beach is the only one in Zakynthos and one of the few in Greece that show high Sulphur & Collagen concentration in the water, thus being a natural Sulphur spa. When swimming you may see the water's distinctive turbidity, as if there were something in the water that didn't totally dissolve. The water is naturally clean and pleasant, although a bit chilly, due to the cliffs and the depth of the ocean (only a few meters from the beach, the sea can be tens of meters deep). The Sulphur is gushing from a nearby cave and even though it has a distinctive and intense smell that it might prevent you from giving it a try, keep in mind that it has healing properties. Anyone with aches, pains, or arthritis would benefit from taking a bath at Xigia Beach in the Sulphur Sea water because the Sulphur in the water relieves some conditions. Additionally, it is said to help with cellulite removal and be beneficial for skin issues.
