Lokva Rogoznica is a small dalmatian village situated on the slopes of Omiš Dinara. It was founded in the 13th century as a hill-site settlement and started to spread towards the sea after the construction of the main dalmatian road in 1960ies. Its economy is based on wine production and tourism. The nearest bigger town is Omiš, the center of Omiš Riviera, only 7 km to the south. The Riviera of Omiš is situated right between the two major cities of central Dalmatia; Split and Makarska. Even though both are one of the most popular tourist sites in Croatia, Omiš has nothing to be ashamed for. A town situated on the mouth of river Cetina in the Adriatic has a lot to offer. The magnificent canyon of Cetina is perfect for kayaking and a different kind of family fun, while the beautiful beaches offer a relaxing time at the sea. Since 1967., there is a festival of Dalmatian Klape being held in Omiš, just like the “Pirate battles”, a manifestation being held in the honor of Omiš pirates, medieval fighters for the freedom of Omiš and the rest of dalmatian coastline in front of the Ottomans and Venetians.
