🌿 Private Garden Courtyard
Step outside into your own Mediterranean oasis – with a dining table under the sky, a stone-built BBQ grill, lush greenery and a 60-year-old orange tree. The space is lit for cozy evenings, with a partial view of Mount Biokovo peeking over the rooftops.
My name is Julija, born and raised in Makarska – a small coastal town full of soul. I love the sea, gardens, and the scent of the old orange tree that has stood in our courtyard for over 60 years. I’ve designed the apartment with care and heart, blending the charm of old stone with clean, modern comfort – just like Makarska itself. I value simplicity, peaceful mornings, and guests who leave with a smile. I’d be happy to host you and help you feel truly at home here.
Hidden Garden is located in the very heart of Makarska’s Old Town, in one of its most charming stone-paved streets. Guests love this neighborhood because everything is just a short walk away – from the lively waterfront promenade (Riva) to the quiet hidden alleys where you can still feel the authentic Dalmatian spirit.
The main square, Kačić Square, with its Franciscan monastery, open-air cafés, and the famous flower and farmers’ market, is only about 50 meters from the apartment. Here you can experience the local way of life and enjoy fresh fruit, vegetables, and homemade specialties every morning. Just a few steps further, you will find the Makarska Riva, the center of social life, lined with palm trees, restaurants, bars, and gelato shops – perfect for an evening stroll by the sea.
For history and culture lovers, the Franciscan Monastery houses a unique seashell museum, while the Malacological Museum and the City Museum offer a glimpse into the region’s rich heritage. The St. Mark’s Cathedral and its surrounding square host concerts and traditional events in the summer months.
Nature enthusiasts appreciate the easy access to the Biokovo Nature Park with its spectacular Skywalk viewpoint, as well as some of the Adriatic’s most beautiful beaches. The famous Nugal Beach, a hidden paradise surrounded by cliffs and pine forest, is reachable by a scenic coastal walk.
As for dining, the neighborhood offers everything from small family-run konobas serving fresh seafood and local wine, to trendy restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy Mediterranean cuisine in a lively atmosphere. Guests especially enjoy that they can leave the car behind – the beaches, shops, bakeries, and even ferries to the nearby islands of Brač and Hvar are all within easy reach on foot.
