Irota EcoLodge is the place to be if you are looking for complete peace and quiet in an unspoilt, beautiful area. Our houses are very luxurious and eco-friendly. You can choose to relax at your pool (with a glass of wine maybe), go mountain biking, birdwatching or hiking, sniff some culture in Kosice or Miskolc, grill your food over the open fire... or do absolutely nothing but sniff the fresh air. With us in Irota, you will be 'away from it all' without being confined to simple premises. The best of both worlds, yet to be discovered... Our three big villas easily sleep six guests each.

We are two Dutch guys who came to Hungary in 2007. For the last 5 years, we have lived in Irota, renovated our own place (a 19th century manor) and devoted all our time to the development of Irota EcoLodge. Having lived in different countries holding different positions, we feel we came to the perfect spot. We cannot believe we are the only ones to fall in love with this piece of the planet, and decided to let our guests in on the secret. We'd love to tell you what you can discover in the area, happy to assist any time. We'll make sure you get the freshest eggs from the village, the best honey, we'll make a reservation for you at that special restaurant, tell you which roads to take... and which to avoid.

The hilly surroundings of Irota make it the perfect base to go mountain biking, hiking, walking or bird watching. You are unlikely to meet anyone apart from the local deer, a fox, woodpeckers and other species. Unesco World Heritage is half an hour away in the Aggtelek National Park with its stunning cave system. On 2.5 hrs by car you will find the splendid Hungarian capital of Budapest, on 1.5 hrs the Slovak city of Kosice, European Cultural Capital in 2013. Only 45 minutes away you can swim through the caves of Miskolc' famous Cave Baths. An hour's drive will get you to the world famous Tokay wine region. And there is more...
