Nook with a View offers a cozy getaway for guests looking to stay at an apartment that really feels like home. The apartment boasts panoramic views of the Rába Quelle Water Complex right opposite the building; Széchenyi István University a 9-minute walk away across the river; the Castle of Győr located a 12-minute stroll away; and the Synagogue. Ideal for solo travelers and couples, but can also comfortably fit parties of three. Note that this is a walk-up apartment.

A native of Győr, I spent much of my childhood just a few blocks away at my grandparents', so Sziget holds a special place in my heart. After 8 years of studying and doing multi-disciplinary research in Abu Dhabi, Madrid, Boston, New York, Stanford and most recently Singapore, I returned to my roots at the height of the pandemic and have been leading global learning experience design projects from Győr ever since. Design and hospitality have been two of my greatest passions and listing this apartment is a special milestone in my life. During my travels and frequent cross-continental moves I often yearned for a sense of home - and this is exactly what I aimed to create at Nook with a View for my guests.

Sziget used to be characterized by winding streams bringing frequent floods and destruction. Over the centuries, the rivers of the city were gradually regulated, transforming the landscape and attracting settlers. The area became an important gateway to the city of Győr and in the 18th century, Sziget became home to a growing, prosperous community of Jews and Christians of various denominations. Unfortunately, the majority of Győr's Jewish community perished in the Holocaust and many of the survivors chose to emigrate. New residents arrived in their place, but the majestic synagogue building that you can see from the window remains testament of the community's existence and influence in the city. After decades of decline during and after the communist era, Sziget is now becoming one of the most popular areas of Győr due to its central location and rich heritage. Széchenyi István University and the Bishop's Castle are both only a 10-minute walk across the river - look out of the window and you'll see how close they are! New eateries are popping up, historic buildings are being renovated and new ones are erected in the place of industrial complexes. The Rába Quelle water complex with its iconic soda bottle is also a great example of the progressive spirit of Sziget.
