Situated just outside MAUMERE right on the seashore, and very near Maumere airport (2,5 km). The garden with numerous types of trees and plants, is being renovated and some construction is always going on (but no disturbance for guests). 5 private rooms. FREE WIFI. In the center there is a common kitchen. Guests can make their own coffee/tea free of charge. For breakfast, Mama Susi will prepare you some tasty omelet / scrambled eggs / pancakes. A seawall due to beach erosion, so no convenient beach (we now try to grow some Mangrove). Snorkeling still possible. Very good locations however are near the islands - we can assist organize a trip. We have 3 scooters for rent to help our guests to get around. We can assist you with car rental BUT only AFTER you have arrived because you yourself will have to decide on a deal. We will help our guests with visa extension. The homestay is under the umbrella of an NGO. At the moment we have limited the activities to preparing Rosella and Moringa herbal tea in cooperation with an NGO focused on disabled people.

We are just very easy-going, welcome all and enjoy getting to know our guests. Also like to see guests interacting with each other. Susi is especially interested in food preparation and likes to create new recipes. On request she organizes cooking lessons, Making virgin coconut oil, coffee as well. She also is very caring about environmental and social issues. The events going hand-in-hand with music and dancing. Or photo-sessions with traditional clothing (weaving). Herman worked for many NGOs in the region but he is quite "hands-on" - repairing / creating stuff, etc. Feel free to ask any question and/ or report any problem you have directly (we would be upset if you don't :-).

Our place is very safe. In all the years we are receiving guests, we never experienced theft. Most part of the year the sea is clean and there are coral reefs of the coast. There is no convenient beach however. For nice snorkeling spots you have to go to the islands (we can assist in organising a trip). Because of beach erosion, we had to construct a sea wall (2017). Another wall was constructed by gov 40m from seashore. Privacy has increased a lot though. The place can be a bit noisy. The road is very nearby. Maumere people like music and, so now and then, like it loud (incl. Karaoke). But after 10-11 they stop unless there is a wedding / holy communion party in the neighborhood (few times a year).
