Villa Ubud Heart is a passion project of mine born from a craving for sense of community. Life in closed-space houses refrained by tall fences feel disconnected, and so I've set out to find a new way. Just a few months later I have walked in into the back of the then still unnamed courtyard style villa. This setting called out to me with potential designed to nourish human connection. One day, as I was working at the villa to prepare it for opening, I was feeling particularly lonely. Just then, a little sparrow flew up to me and landed on my shoulder. It wouldn't leave my side and even taken off, it would fly back up to me. For two hours it strutted around, entertaining me with its company. And when I felt better, it flew off. I am a believer of symbols. This sparrow came to my company when I felt low, bringing calm and happiness, reminding me the that the purpose of this project is a sense of friendship. Thus this sparrow became the face of villa, and name Ubud Heart was born to remind of these beautiful feelings.
