I loved how it was right in the heart of Kilkenny. The staff was very friendly. They were accommodating and shared thier opinions on where to eat. The streets were busy and very loud. It was kind of difficult to sleep with the noise. But it...

The space was good. It was accessible to everything. Our host made a recommendation for live music (a kitchen session) at a local pub, which was phenomenal.

The Billycan Guest Rooms has been welcoming guests for over 20 years. It is situated in the heart of Kilkenny city. It is in walkable distance to all historic sites in the city centre as well as the train station (approx. 5 mins). There are an abundance of fine hospitable bars and award-winning restaurants close by. At the Billycan Guest Rooms, there are 4 bedrooms which are all ensuite, with TV and Wifi. Parking is located at rear.
My name is Margaret. I am the proud proprietor of the 'Billycan Guest Rooms'. I have 3 grown up children. I am greatly interested in local affairs and events. I have been a member and patron of the Kilkenny Music Festival. During the music competitions that are held, I have been the scorekeeper. I am also involved in fundraising for local charities. I have a strong interest in supporting guests in seeing the beauty of Kilkenny. This includes local nature trails, sight-seeing the historic sites and the numerous local bars (for the craic!) and feast of award-winning restaurants (to fill your bellies!). I am always willing to provide my guests with information and direction to ensure they enjoy their stay as much as I love living in this wonderful city.
Kilkenny! Where to begin! Kilkenny is a very historical city. It is built on the river Nore and is known as the Medieval City. There are a plethora of historical sites to visit in the city centre such as, Rothe House, Kilkenny Castle, St. Canice's Cathedral, The Tholsel and Butler House but to name a few! Kilkenny supports the arts. There are two theatres & number of art gallerys. Performances can be found from traditional and popular artists from near and far. If you are driving, you may be interested in visiting Thomastown which is approx. 18mins from Kilkenny. Thomastown is famous for its Duiske Glass and also the beautiful Duiske Abbey. Another magnificent place to visit are the Dunmore Caves which are approx. 14 mins drive. It consists of a series of chambers formed over millions of years, and contains some of the finest calcite formations found in any Irish cave. Visit Jenkinstown park to see a glimpse of glorious Irish countryside approx. 10 min drive. Facilities include a picnic site, deer park and craft centre. The park contains a wood which has 2 looped walks for both a short stroll or a longer walk, both these trails are waymarked.
